Health Benefits
Let’s see what doctors have to say about the benefits of each ingredient (because I am just a cook not a health professional):

Beets
The amount of health benefits in beets is actually so crazy. It is packed in antioxidants, fiber, nitrates, and potassium.
“Beets are unique for their cardiovascular and heart health benefits. Due to a combination of compounds found in beets, they are able to enhance blood flow, improve the health of arteries, support lower homocysteine levels and reduce LDL cholesterol.”
-registered dietitian Sarah Thomsen Ferreira, RD
Carrots
“Carrots are a particularly good source of beta-carotene, fiber, vitamin K1, potassium, and antioxidants. Plus, they’re low in calories. They also have several health benefits. They have been linked to lower cholesterol levels and improved eye health. What’s more, their carotene antioxidants have been linked to a reduced risk of cancer.”
-Adda Bjarnadottir, MS, RDN
Oranges
“Oranges are high in fiber, which helps to diversify the gut microbiome and lower or maintain healthy levels of cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar. In addition, oranges are also high in vitamin C, which is a powerful dietary antioxidant that can help protect the body from free radicals that can be harmful to the body and your health.”
-dietician Deidre Huysamen
Pineapple
Pineapples are very high in manganese (good for bones), vitamins B and C, minerals, and fiber.
“Pineapple is the only food known to contain bromelain, an enzyme that helps your skin and tissues heal. Bromelain appears to produce substances that combat in pain and swelling. Consuming bromelain from pineapple might also help your skin heal after surgery or injury.”
-dietitian Julia Zumpano, RD, LD
Lemon
I was honestly so shocked how many different benefits lemons have. Unlike the other ingredients mention, according to science, it makes you look younger, boosts appetite and hydration, helps asthma
“Lemons are rich in vitamin C and offer a wide range of health benefits, from boosting the immune system to improving skin health. They aid in weight loss, support dental health, and can help alleviate throat infections.”
-Meenakshi Nagdeve, Co-Founder, Organic Facts
Ginger
And, of course, ginger the medicinal root has a buttload of benefits. Used commonly to help nausea, pregnancy, bloating, and tear on cells.
“Gingerol, a natural component of ginger root, benefits gastrointestinal motility ― the rate at which food exits the stomach and continues along the digestive process. Eating ginger encourages efficient digestion, so food doesn’t linger as long in the gut.”
-John Hopkins Medicine
Matcha
The benefits of matcha along with how to make the perfect matcha are to be found in The Art of Hot Matcha Latte, a previous blog post describing matcha facts and the best way to make a matcha latte.

Juicing Process
If you have a juicer, fantastic! If you’re a normal person like me, you would use a blender and sift the juices. Do not add pressure, or else clumps and solids will get into your juice and it won’t be a juice anymore. However, you can gently turn the solids with a spoon to release extra juices.

Don’t Throw Away the Solids!
We are a waste free kitchen. Freeze the solids and throw them into your smoothie or protein shake! Also can be freeze as ice cubes.
